Clare Winsten, a prominent British artist, was renowned for her diverse work as a painter, illustrator, portraitist, and sculptor. Studying at the Slade School of Fine Art, she became the only female member of the influential 'Whitechapel Boys.' Her artistic contributions were vast, including sculptures like those of Joan of Arc and George Bernard Shaw. She illustrated several works, including Shaw's Buoyant Billions and produced a bronze bust of him for the British Museum. Winsten's art often depicted notable figures such as Shostakovich and Gandhi, leaving a lasting impact on British modernism and portraiture.
